Community Supported Agriculture
Becoming a Part of Our Farm
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a relationship between our farm and you as our customer. Rather than simply purchasing food, our customers become “members” of this CSA farm who receive a portion of the farm’s harvest.
Our CSA runs for 18 weeks, from June 16 to October 13. As a member you are responsible for arriving at the farm each week to pick up your share of freshly harvested produce. You will generally receive 3-12 pounds of vegetables equivalent to two plastic grocery bags of produce, with two/three bags during peak season.
Our Growing Practices
We strive to grow all of our products in the best way possible, by using methods that produce healthy vegetables, healthy soil, and healthy animal life; big, small, domestic, and wild. We incorporate organic growing methods with integrated pest management, and soil building principles to produce great food with the most benefit to our environment, without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides.
The Products We Expect for 2018
The list below outlines some of the produce we hope to deliver and when you may see them in your share. This list is based on our best estimate, but of course weather, pests, and other events will affect actual production.
Arugula, Radishes, Spinach, Lettuce, Peas, etc.
Beets, Broccoli, Carrots, Summer Squash, Kohlrabi, Beans, etc.
Tomatoes, Peppers, Eggplant, Herbs, etc.
Flowers, Pumpkins, Potatoes, Winter Squash, etc.
We are also are offering an egg share as an add-on to our CSA. An egg share will entitle you to one dozen nest run (un-sized), pasture raised chicken eggs per week. By signing up for an egg share customers will realize a 5.5% savings over retail price on the same number of eggs.
Picking Up Shares
You are responsible for picking up your share each week at the farm. 96 Farnum Rd, Chepachet, RI 02814 on Saturdays between 11am -3pm.
You are responsible for observing our drop site rules, which are as follows:
Return last week’s bag/box every week
Pick up your share within the timeframe stated. Although we deliver high-quality produce to the site, it will decline quickly if not picked up in time.
Be respectful of farm property.
Follow additional rules posted at the farm regarding parking and use of certain entrances.
If you cannot pick-up your share, you must arrange for someone else to pick it up for you. You are responsible for explaining the pick-up location and procedures to your substitute. Shares that are not retrieved within the pick-up time will be donated to a charity or food pantry.
We take the safety of your food seriously. Although we wash all of our produce to some degree, for your added protection we recommend washing all produce thoroughly before eating and or cooking.
By selling membership in advance of the growing season, CSA reduces the burden of up-front costs for the farmer. Your membership fees provide us with money to purchase seed and equipment before the season starts, and we appreciate your commitment.
To become a member, we require a non-refundable deposit of $100.00 or payment in full by June 1, 2018.
